What Is the Hill Descent Control (HDC) on My Freelander For and How Do I Use It?

Imagine this. It's a wet day. You're on your local 4x4 track with your trusty Freelander. Suddenly you find yourself perched on the top of what feels like a sheer, muddy drop that appears to go straight into a lake! Oops! Your heart is pounding. When you looked at this from the other side you could see that what was needed was a sharp left turn at the bottom of the hill to keep you from drowning in the depths of the lake. It looked much easier from that angle, looking up; not this one, looking down!
